A tough week for the United States, with the first anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s death on 10th September, and the 25th anniversary of 9/11 the following day.
Last year, I hosted a vigil for Charlie at the local college campus. The Reverend Jady Koch and I led Evensong for people saddened by the news of this death. This year, I was invited to return to that same college by the local Turning Point chapter to open their memorial vigil in prayer, which was closed by my postulant, J. T. Please keep him in your prayers as he is formed and trained for Holy Orders.
Charlie was a good man. When they killed Charlie, everything changed. They killed the heart of the conservative movement in the U.S.; nothing has been the same since.
It seems there is a Charlie tweet or video for everything. Like a prophet, he had a Christian message for every situation. This particular clip of Charlie resurfaced this week, exemplifying that. Here is promoting what could have been the start of the Golden Age of America: A Trump presidency that refused to go to war with Iran, that installed peace between Russia and the Ukraine, and brought gas prices down to $1.75 per gallon.
Instead, we end up with a seemingly never-ending war with Iran, which we are simultaneously told is not a war, and/or a war we have already won, even though it continues; Russia and the Ukraine continue to go at it, with no end in sight; and gas prices recently hit $5 per gallon in the MidWest and are constantly over $4, which is unsustainable for many average Americans. Charlie’s vision for America is one that many of us shared when we supported Team Trump in this last election. Where things went wrong is up to speculation, but there is no doubt Charlie’s death has had an impact.

It has been two weeks since the world was shaken. I do not think it is hyperbolic to say that things will never be the same again.
But the question we are not allowed to ask is: Was Charlie Kirk’s assassination an inside job? Anyone who does not accept the official narrative is instantly labelled crazy. We have seen this pattern before, though. Did you know the term ‘conspiracy theory’ came to prominence after the assassination of JFK? It was the CIA’s method of closing down the conversation. We should learn from this - questions need asking, debate is important, and we should never trust those in positions of power over us.

I don't know what to think yet of the theories about the murder of Charlie Kirk. Whoever did it--and I still think it might have been Tyler Robinson--they targeted someone who was a great force for good. Knowing how our government has so often lied to us, we do need to keep an open mind about who was responsible, until the truth is clear. The Right is still reeling from that murder, while the Left merrily goes on its evil way. Satan is laughing, but he won't laugh forever.
And Charlie Kirk laid his life down for us also. Another example of "Greater love hath no man...."
